5 Tips in Becoming a Person of Influence With Your Home-Based Business

Becoming a person of influence is important whether you have your own home-based business or you work for someone else. There are still contributions you can make that can be a benefit to others, never sell yourself short. I have a few tips that one can follow in order to become a person of influence in whatever you set out to do in life.

1. Have Integrity - Soundness of moral character. As important as integrity is to your business success, it is even more crucial for life. Integrity is something that seems to be missing in the world around us and especially in the work place. Peoples' morals seem to have diminished these days, so if you are a person with integrity and high morals, you may seem square to some but believe me it will pay off in the end with big dividends. Integrity is our foundation, that is why it is number one on my list. The foundation is the most important part of a building as with your own life, it is that important. For without the proper foundation, the whole building will crumble around you. Nineteenth Century clergyman Phillips Brooks maintained, "character is made in the small moments of our lives." Integrity is from the inside out-how well do we treat those that can not benefit us? Integrity is something that keeps us on the right path, that inner voice that tells us something is right or not right. Always follow that small voice of your inner man! This will make you a person of influence.

2. Values Others Opinion - Are you the type of person that lifts people up, and just makes them feel good whenever they are around you? Everyone wants respect, whether they are a janitor or the owner of the company. Give others the respect they deserve and need. Make them feel success, put them in a place where they can achieve small successes, this gives them confidence to try something harder. When you encourage people, you're not only encouraging just them, but you're encouraging all the people they encourage. Always make others feel they are a 10 in your eyes, this in turn will make you a person of influence in their eyes.

3. Be Honest With Yourself & With Others - Be a person others trust, this comes by being honest with those around you. Sometimes being honest hurts, but if you want to be a person of influence, trust must be earned. Nurture trust. Take pride in the fact that people in your life trust you. It is an honor, and should be treated as such. If you actively nurture the trust you have been given you will see that others will return it. Trust others, and they will trust you and see you as a person of influence in their lives.

4. Empower Others - To empower others is giving them the confidence and the ability to make the right decisions in their life. When others see integrity in you and value in themselves from your eyes and you have earned trust from them, then you can empower them to go forward in whatever they choose in life. Having the right people in one's life is very important and is life changing, for the wrong people can be toxic to ones mind-set. Negative people can be very harmful to those that are trying to be successful in life. Choose the right people to be in your life and value those people and the relationships with them, and when you do, you are laying a foundation for empowering others and in turn empowering yourself.

5. Permission to Succeed - Believe it or not but there are some people that are scared of success. When we have successes in life, even little ones, it enables us to move forward to greater successes. Confidence in oneself and in others is vital in life and business. Novelist Robert Louis Stevenson said, "To be what we are, and to become what we are capable of becoming, is the only end of life." Many people would love to succeed in life but many do not, one reason is the misunderstanding of growth or change. Growth hurts and so does change but life is always changing and we either embrace change or we let it go by the way side and never live up to our potential. Change hurts, but if we never take responsibility for our growth, it won't happen. Growth is not automatic, it is ever changing and we either change with it or not. So embrace your successes in life, live with integrity, be an honest person to yourself and others. Value yourself and others in life and this will empower you to become a person of influence in everything that you set out to do.

Honda Motor Co. (7267) President Takanobu Ito forecast that earnings at Japan’s third-biggest carmaker will climb to the highest in at least five years, led by sales of Accord sedans and Civic compacts in North America.

Operating income in the year ending March 2013 will recover to levels achieved before the failure of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. roiled global markets, as sales climb above 4 million vehicles for the first time, Ito said in an interview this week. Lehman filed for bankruptcy in September 2008, six months after Honda earned record annual profits.

“It will be the year of the complete rebound,” Ito said at the company’s Tokyo headquarters. “Sales in North America will lead the recovery. We’ll introduce a fully revamped Accord in the fall, and that will be a big plus to our sales.”

Ito’s projected earnings would trump analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg, reflecting the revival in confidence by Japanese automakers as they recover from a year plagued by natural disasters at home and in Thailand. Toyota Motor Corp. (7203), Asia’s largest carmaker, said this week that annual sales will be 100,000 units higher than it anticipated last month.

Honda’s operating income, or sales minus the cost of goods sold and administrative expenses, will probably double to 586.6 billion yen ($7.6 billion) next fiscal year after shrinking 52 percent, according to the average of 24 analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg. Earnings reached 953.1 billion yen, 851.9 billion yen and 868.9 billion yen, respectively, in the years before Lehman’s bankruptcy.

Reversal of Fortune

Honda has gained 17 percent this year, the best performer among Japan’s three biggest automakers, and last closed at 2,742 yen in Tokyo trading. That’s a reversal from 2011, when the stock’s 27 percent drop made it the worst performer.

Ito, 58, is counting on the U.S. market to drive growth.

The redesigned Accord sedan, the Civic and CR-V sport- utility vehicle will help Honda increase U.S. sales 24 percent to 1.43 million units in 2012, Ito said. Sales in the market, Honda’s largest, declined 6.8 percent last year, led by a 17 percent drop in deliveries of the Accord. The Accord is Honda’s best-selling U.S. model, followed by the Civic.

Ito ruled out any major overhaul of the Civic after the current version of the sedan, which failed to receive the “recommended” status its predecessors had from Consumer Reports magazine, was the best-selling model in the compact-car segment in the last three months of 2012.

‘Good Position’

Honda’s new models will give it an edge in the U.S. over South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Co. (005380), which is producing close to full-capacity, said Kota Yuzawa, a Tokyo-based analyst at Goldman Sachs Group Inc. That puts Honda in “good position” to regain lost market share, he said.

Honda may not be alone. Japan’s three biggest carmakers are poised to gain market share this year at the expense of U.S. producers led by General Motors Co. (GM) and Ford Motor Co. (F), according to five analysts surveyed by Bloomberg.

In China, the world’s largest auto market, Honda expects its sales to rise more than 20 percent to 750,000 units in 2012 after they shrank for the first time in 2011 in a slowing market, Ito said. The company plans to introduce three gas- electric hybrid models in the country this year, he said.

“China is still strong,” Ito said. “Once motorization captures a market, its unstoppable.”

China, Thailand

China’s total vehicle sales -- including cars, trucks and buses -- grew 2.5 percent to 18.5 million units last year, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, trailing growth in the U.S. for the first time in at least 14 years. Honda expects the market to expand to 20 million this year, or “just above” China’s economic growth, he said.

In Thailand, where the country’s worst floods in almost 70 years disrupted assembly plants andsupply of components in 2011, Honda plans to resume production starting in April, Ito said. Damages stemming from Thailand forced the company to scrap this fiscal year’s profit forecast.

As part of Honda’s strategy of producing cars where they are sold, the company plans to reorganize its Japanese factories so they focus on production of minicars, a growing category that makes up about 40 percent of the nation’s auto demand, Ito said. Orders for the N Box minicar in Japan reached 27,000 units in its first month of sales, more than double Honda’s original target.

Reorganizing Operations

Minicars, defined as vehicles no longer than 3.4 meters (11 feet) in length, will account for 40 percent of Honda’s Japan sales, compared with 25 percent now, Ito said.

Honda joins Toyota and Nissan (7201) in reorganizing operations as the yen, which has gained against the world’s 16 most-traded currencies for two straight years, erodes the value of exports. Honda plans to boost the portion of vehicles sold in the same region they’re built to as high as 80 percent, Ito said. In 2010, Honda sold about two out of three Japan-built cars in the country.

Officials at Toyota and Nissan this month have also echoed plans to increase their portion of vehicles sold in the region they are assembled.

“Minicars will be key for us in Japan in the next five years,” Ito said.

Unfortunately, many people searching for work from home jobs have been victimized, often times investing hundreds of dollars in work from home job scams. When considering which work from home jobs are legitimate, there are a few things that can help you separate the scams from the legitimate opportunities available.

First, consider this: you are seeking employment and so it goes without saying that you equally are expecting to be rewarded monetarily for your services. For this reason alone, one should never have to pay for a work from home job. Companies that promise ample work but require you to pay any amount of money upfront to do so are almost always scamming you. Just as you would not pay an upfront fee to work in the corporate or retail outside world, you should not pay to work from home either.

Work from homes jobs is plentiful and many are legit but you have to do your research before choosing the company you are dedicating yourself to. Reputable companies that have a good history and are legit will be listed with The Better Business Bureau or the Federal Trade Commission. At the very least, they will have a headquarter office, working phone number and staff to answer questions in person or by phone. Never work for a company that does not have a phone number listed or only has a P.O. Box as these are usually fake companies out to take your money without being able to be traced. It is also wise to ask these companies for a reference list. This is a great way to contact other employees that can vouch as to whether the business is legit.

Keep a good head on your shoulders. If something sounds too good to be true it most likely is. Many scamming companies make astronomical promises to potential employees such as there are thousands of dollars to be made in just a couple of hour's time. Realistically, this isn't plausible-if this were true everyone would be doing it! Very few get rich and do it quickly and effortlessly deals are legitimate.

The Internet is a powerful and useful tool but be wary of work from home jobs that are soliciting your through email and pop ups. Generally speaking the most reputable work from home job companies have gained their reputation grossly by word of mouth, and therefore do not need to send out massive chain emails to potential employees.

Also be wary of any work from home job opportunity where there is a requirement for you to purchase any type of equipment. This is often a red flag that the business is not legitimate and usually the equipment is very costly. Businesses that require equipment for their products generally have office or warehouse buildings that their employees work from or in.

YouTube Goes Global, but Ad Revenues Still Not Good

YouTube recently announced that web site users in Brazil, France, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Poland, Spain and Great Britain will now have the ability to visit YouTube locally and get all the information regarding the YouTube videos in their native languages. The chief financial officer of YouTube, Steve Chen, stated that these individual countries will now have a local version of YouTube that will allow them to access a central database of videos as well as show them how their own country is ranking certain videos as opposed to the American version of video-ranking.

150 content partners have already been contacted by YouTube so that they will be able to supply YouTube with various sports and entertainment clips from various companies such as the BBC, France 24 and the Real Madrid Spanish soccer team. This new international touch to YouTube was made possible when Google bought the video-sharing behemoth in November of 2006. Google had the financial backing and resources that allowed such an international transaction to take place.

MORE AD REVENUE MUST BE FOUND TO BRING YOUTUBE INTO THE BLACK
Without a clear ad revenue structure that YouTube is in desperate need of to ensure great financial rewards after Google paid $1.6 billion for the site back in 2006. That is a very heft bill that Google must somehow find a way to recover within the next few years, or this will always be the fly in the ointment as far as Google's huge success goes.

Most analysts agree that Google bought YouTube to help them generate more ad revenue internationally not in just a few months, but for the long term, maybe not excpecting to recoup the $1.6 billion for at least eight to ten years. YouTube currently is also embroiled in a massive lawsuit brought on by the entertainment industry who insists that users who upload copyrighted material should be penalized at best and put in jail at the worst, and YouTube should take take all copyrighted material immediately.

VIACOM NOT AMUSED AT YOUTUBE ANTICS
The main entertainment lawsuit involves Viacom, who own MTV and Comedy Central, among other televison production companies. They believe that when YouTube subscribers upload episodes of South Park and the Daily Show, YouTube should automatically shut down the video feed so that no one will be able to see these episodes for free.

YouTube contends that there is already in place a database software engine that can discern copyrighted material from non-copyrighted material and they have set aside more than $200 million for legal fees to fight Viacom's $1 billion lawsuit. This is certainly not a time for the owners of YouTube to be rejoicing in celebration of international success as this legal fight will take some time to recover from. YouTube is also facing Europe's more rigorous terrain when it comes to regulating videos in international waters as well.

This more scrutinezed look at YouTube's copyrighted material from the European government does not bode well for YouTube's future success.
